This App rocks

Just got it and I can see the potential. Just one question: Im not sure yet if my iTouch need to be "On" for the others to have access to my contacts or it will use the back up file on my Mac? Anyway Ill find out. PAJean

God bless this app

Due to my address book being stored on my company exchange server I thought Id never be able to sync my address book on my mac properly. Enter this app that works brilliantly and simply - all I have to do is sync my mac with this app occasionally and presto - a nice address book backup without iTunes chicanery!

Great Way to Extract old Exchange Contacts

Air Contacts is a great app. It essentially sets up a localized webserver, and presents all your contact information (no matter the source) in a simple, MobileMe-esque interface. You can browse individual contacts, with an option at the bottom of each contact item to export a vCard. At the top of the web interface there is an option to export all contacts. This page in turn has options to export a zip file with the information, a Windows formatted vCard, a Mac vCard, or an iPhone contact backup vCard. It is a very well thought out design. I initially ran into a bug with contact export crashing the app. After contacting the developer and submitting the crash logs, it was determined that some malformed contact image data wasn’t being handled properly. A few hours later the developer sent me an updated test application to see if he’d fixed the issue. After running the test app, I can safely say that the problem is fixed. Once the updated version hits the App Store (v1.7), I highly recommend this app to anyone looking for an easy way to extract their old Exchange contact information from their iPhone.

Great but...

This app really helped me to import lost contacts back into Outlook after a crash. But please please please add export to CSV functionality. This would be so much more efficient then outputting vcards. Otherwise a good app and worth the $2.

Great app

This app has been a life saver for me. I was pretty disorganized before I had my iPhone and I manualy entered all my contacts. I didnt have anything to sync them with. This has been an amazing tool for managing, backing up, sharing and importing.

It works

I initially could not log into the address provided. However, once I put my linksys router between the pc and the service providers router I was able to access the address. It was time consuming transferring contacts one at a time. I wish I could select all. I also wish I could see all the fields as well as a mapping feature for the transfer. But since it worked as advertised I give it 4 stars.

Project dead?

Please add Unicode format. I have a problem with Russian address book in Win vcf.

Works really well (and has bounjour auto discovery)

I use two apps to share content from my iPhone with computers: "Air contacts" (this one, shares contacts) and "Air sharing" (share files). Both are perfect at their function and work as expected. I would like a "client mode" in future versions to allow two iPhones to share and grab vCards, but that is not what this particular app says it does. What it does really well is to share contacts with computers on the same network. The contacts are read only, there is no way to upload contacts or edit them (something I would also like to see under password protection for write operations). Its worth the money, works really well and I love it.

Great application

I want to use this app to be able to save all of a users contacts to a PC and then import them into Microsoft Outlook. This would be useful if the contacts have been completely lost on the PC. With the latest version (1.5), you can download all of the contacts into one ZIP file which will contain a vcf for each contact. Then, all of the vcfs can then be imported into Outlook. This was a much needed upgrade. Good work!

Very Disappointed

With well over 400 business and personal contact records in my iPhone, and having spent in excess of 20 hours manually correcting the mess resulting from my latest iTunes sync with Outlook, I was really looking forward to generating an independent Contacts backup. After reading many of the favorable--and not-so-favorable--Air Contacts reviews prior to purchase, I was so cautious that I even rebooted my iPhone immediately after installing Air Contacts, and prior to exporting any Contact data. Sadly, though, that was not a sufficiently effective measure. Large amounts of data didnt transfer into either the .VCF or the .ZIP versions of the export...little details like phone numbers, addresses, etc. (And, yes, I had all those Shared Properties turned on.) Sometimes the Contact Names werent even correct. I understand Im not going to get my money back, but I implore the developer(s) to get this right. They have a great idea, for which I would have willingly paid 2 or 3 times as much. Im glad for those folks who have experienced excellent results with this application, but in my case the results were very disappointing.

Perfect

Does exactly what it says it does. Serves up a web interface for looking up contacts (which you can find on bonjour. Yay for not hand-typing IPs) and does a perfect export in vCard format. Other apps do only csv and while I havent used them, Im always suspicious of csv because you never know if itll get all the fields or map / name them correctly. Well worth the $2 even if you only use it once to recover from an address book problem on your computer.

Sharing contact info made even easier

Super simple, great, and solid tool to sync & backup - a must have. Great & fast customer support too. Thanks for the fix Christian - Hendrik

Great App for Recovering Contacts Including Outlook

I was looking for a quick way to capture my contacts which I managed in Outlook and were synched over the air on an Exchange server that I could no longer access. This is a great little app which allowed me to pull all the contacts off my phone. It is not very intuitive and the app could use some more instructions on how to use it. Essentially it turns your phone into a web server. You can access your contacts with any browser and Air Contacts will even let you export all of them into VCard format. This app saved about 400 contacts that I would have had to manually re-create.

Iphone to Ipad

This did exactly what i needed. I didnt want to put my credit card info in for moblie me. And I didnt have outlook. So i was needing a quick way to tranfer my contacts from my iphone to ipad. This worked perfectly. From install to upload. 3 min tops. Thanks!

How can I get my money back?

I am completely disappointed, tried the free version and it didnt did anything, I really needed to sync contacts so apple people told me to try the paid version. Didnt work at all. How can I get my money back?

I click download all contacts and nothing happens for 5+ minutes

I am attempting to backup about 30 contacts from an iphone 4. When i click download all contacts with or without zip file i click and nothing happens for 5+ minutes. I tried 10+ times and the app just crashes on my iPhone.

Lifesaver

A perfect VCard export that dropped straight back into OSX Addressbook. Just saved me tons of agony, money well spent. Easy, accurate, now part of my regular backup policy.
